Altamira Team Attends The Women’s Center Annual Leadership Conference

McLean, VA – A group of women from Altamira’s leadership team participated in the 31st Annual Leadership Conference organized by The Women’s Center on Saturday April, 22. For forty years, The Women’s Center has provided mental health counseling, resources, and education throughout the DC area. The Annual Leadership Conference serves as one of the region’s premier leadership events, and brings together nearly 800 attendees every year to participate in networking, discussions, and career development.

This year’s conference highlighted the careers of a group of executives representing a wide range of industries who inspired conference attendees with stories of their professional experiences. Among the speakers were Former Head of DARPA Dr. Arati Prabhakar, Major General with the US Air Force Reserve and Partner at velocityhub Kimberly Crider, and President of The Kennedy Center Deborah Rutter. Following the conference’s theme of Connect-Inspire-Act, speakers encouraged attendees to act with confidence and integrity, take risks and celebrate daily success while navigating a competitive professional landscape.

“Altamira’s leadership team proudly joins The Women’s Center in recognizing the achievements of this year’s group of highly accomplished award recipients,” said Altamira CEO Ted Davies. “This impressive group of leaders, representing government, business, science, the arts and the military, demonstrate the impact that women can have in contributing to these imperative fields. Their dedication inspires all of us at Altamira as we work together to increase the presence of women in STEM fields.”

The 31st Annual Leadership Conference added a new feature to address the evolving role of women in STEM industries. The interactive workshop, referred to as World Café, stimulated discussion among senior-level attendees on how to effectively advance young women in STEM leadership. Altamira attendees left the conference feeling invigorated, and brought to work new ideas for inspiring women in STEM.

From launching the Girls in STEM initiative at the 2017 STEM Symposium, to attending this premier Leadership Conference, Altamira has made advancing women in STEM a company-wide priority.
